What is Structured Work Placement?
Structured Work Placement is training that takes place on the job in a structured way so that student’s learn practical industry skills and competencies that count towards qualifications. Part of the students’ assessment will take place during their Structured Work Placement. Students may be required to do their Structured Work Placement beyond the normal school times and days. Structured Work placement is a compulsory component of all VET courses at Nhulunbuy High School.
Australian School-Based Apprenticeships/Traineeship
School students now have the opportunity to undertake School-Based Apprenticeships/ Traineeship while at school. It involves the students entering into a formal Training Agreement with their Employer and Registered Training Organisation. The Agreement outlines the obligations of all parties and the kind of training, both on and off the job that the trainee has to undertake.
An Australian School-Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship is a part time apprenticeship. This is a new arrangement in which the trainee (student) attends school part time, is employed and attends work part time and they will be required to attend a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for off the job training.
School-Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship are designed so students gain qualification while completing their NTCET. School-Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship can gain credit towards a full time apprenticeship.
